Denis Lacombe, MD, MSC

Dr. Lacombe received his MD from the University of Marseilles, France, in 1988. From 1989 -1991 he was granted a Master Post-doctoral Fellowship studying Fundamental and Clinical Pharmacokinetics at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY, USA. Following this fellowship, he worked in the pharmaceutical industry from 1991-1993 as a Clinical Research Adviser in charge of the development of a new drug in oncology. Since September 1993 he has been working as a Clinical Research Physician at the EORTC in Brussels and remains the Clinical Research Physician for the Brain Tumor Group. Between 1993 and 2006, Dr. Lacombe was in charge of coordinating the Regulatory Affairs Unit ensuring compliance to the regulatory framework. Until 2007, as Assistant Director Medical Affairs, he coordinated the EORTC New Drug Development Team (NDD Team) which supported EORTC clinical groups in conducting new drug development studies from protocol development to publication. Among his many activities at EORTC Headquarters, he is responsible for the Early Project Optimization Department (EPOD) dedicated to helping EORTC groups in the development of studies in line with EORTC guidelines and strategy. He was appointed as Director Headquarters of the EORTC in November 2010 with the main mission of ensuring that the functioning of the EORTC is in line with the decisions of the EORTC Board.
